This drip wax offers the same cleanliness, low friction, and wear protection as the 11+1 hot wax blend but applies as easily as a bottled lube. It matches the exact 11+1 wax blend of Black Diamond, proven to excel in both dry and wet conditions.

The Ultimate Liquid Wax

Unlike typical drip waxes, Black Magik isn’t oily or soft. It’s the first liquid wax that fully replicates hot wax performance, thanks to an advanced emulsion process. Micro-droplets of wax harden after the water evaporates, mimicking the feel of hot wax. After a brief break-in, excess wax sheds, leaving long-lasting, dirt-resistant lubrication. Preparing Your Chain

For the best results, prep your chain properly before applying Black Magik Drip:

• New Chains: Remove factory grease completely before applying.
• Chains with Traditional Lubes: Clean thoroughly with a solvent cleaner like Rex Chain Cleaner for better wax adhesion and longer-lasting lubrication.
• Chains with Rex Wax Lubes (e.g., Domestique, Arctic, Black Diamond): A thorough cleaning is recommended but not mandatory.
• Hot-Waxed Chains: Simply wipe the chain with a cloth.

How to Apply

1. Shift to a cross-chaining position to open gaps in the chain.
2. Apply generously to a clean chain, rotating until the wax soaks in.
3. Let it dry overnight (at least 12 hours).

With Hot Wax:

1. Wipe the chain clean with a cloth.
2. Apply Black Magik generously in a cross-chaining position.
3. Let it dry overnight (at least 12 hours).

Reapplication and Maintenance

How Long Does It Last?

One application can last hundreds of kilometers in dry conditions, but wet weather shortens its duration. After wet rides, wipe the chain and reapply Black Magik to prevent surface rust, which is common with dry wax lubes.

Cleaning Before Reapplication:

Black Magik Drip barely attracts dirt, so a quick wipe with a cloth is often enough. For dirtier chains, rinse with water or use a mild biodegradable detergent like Rex Bicycle Wash. No solvent cleaner is needed. After cleaning, apply a fresh layer of Black Magik and let it dry for at least 12 hours.

Is Hot Waxing Still Necessary?

Not always! Black Magik works great as a standalone lube. However, occasional hot waxing is recommended as it deep-cleans the chain by removing built-up dirt and dust, similar to hot waxing ski bases.

Can I Use Rex “Wet” Chain Lubes?

Stick to Black Magik or hot wax after switching to emulsion wax. Oil-based lubes can increase dirt buildup and reduce the effectiveness of future Black Magik applications.

Using as a Top-Up Between Hot Waxing:

We suggest hot waxing every 1,000 km and topping up with Black Magik every 100–500 km. When rotating multiple chains, this method keeps your wax pot heating to a minimum.

Wet Conditions:

Black Magik’s emulsion process maximizes water resistance, making it highly effective in wet conditions. After wet rides, wipe the chain and reapply to avoid rust.
